I’m a huge fan of music.
I believe music is the most powerful way of getting messages out, conveying emotion and changing how you feel as a listener in an instant. It brings people together, tears others apart and changes perceptions. Wherever/whenever I am I’m always looking/listening/finding new music that strikes me in someway or reading about how music is evolving with this thing called the internet.
While chatting the other day about music I heard someone say that they didn’t like to have CDs anymore, and I know I’m behind on this because I still enjoy actually owning the physical CD in my hand but when having a song is two clicks away why bother anymore? iTunes sold their billionth download and no one feels bad when downloading a song or album or whole torrent anymore, the remorse left a long time ago.
I’m dying to see how music evolves with this internet thing that’s caught on with the kids.
I’ve been a member of Last.fm for 5 years now, and Rhapsody looks pretty awesome but only available in the states, for now I stick to iTunes and I still like to own an actual CD.
Maybe I’ll pull my Napster t-shirt out again though, I got mocked when I bought it but I think it might be time to pull it out for the 10 year anniversary of the birth of Napster and the biggest start of this digital download age.
Has anyone been watching Late Night With Jimmy Fallon? He’s taken over Conan’s spot and Conan is taking over for Jay Leno on June 1st. The late night shuffle, where’s Jay going? Apparently he’s is getting a prime time spot at 10pm .
I’m excited for Conan being on earlier, his writing on the Simpsons was some of my favorite seasons and the dude is funny. I’ve been watching Jimmy too and despite a nervous start I think he’s growing into the spot and with his house band, The FRAKING Roots! that’s an honor for him I bet.
BUT! I’ve been following Jimmy on Twitter since he started this new show and I think he’s the new generation of late night, he’s into social media and is really into the interaction of merging his show with the internet, because TV is slowly dying… People still watch shows but you can watch it all on the internet and I know more and more people who would rather have an internet connection than a cable one. I hope to see Jimmy doing well and Conan too, no one I think can de-throne Mr. Letterman who’s still the most funny but those two are entertaining many people out there too.

My iPod has been dying very quickly lately, and I’d left it out in my cold freezing car overnight a few times by accident so a friend had recommended a place to get a new battery and they were amazing! I’ve been really into the Last 7 Days on Flickr, and I had seen a post the other day for a Flickr Friday on another blog. Well I missed Friday and Flickr Sunday doesn’t have the same ring to it so Flickr Faves it is.
Does anyone watch music videos anymore? Did the internet kill the video star? Much like Video Killed The Radio Star… I love music videos, loooove music videos. Radiohead - Just? Still has me thinking to this moment. I think they’re amazing for artistic expression and for doing some amazing things to song. But videos have not been really amazing as of late I think. I just watched Lily Allen’s The Fear which is pretty good and works with the song but maybe we’ve all just seen it all as far as music videos and it’s all been done, but I hope not.
I signed up for a Tumblr account, another Social Media experiment I’m trying out, they’re all fun.
I really like Twitter and have been telling everyone around me about it so I’lll try out this Tumblr place and see how it goes - if anyone does read this let me know what Social Media places you’re into? I love trying out new and different sites.
